Dont let me be lonely

This book was very different from all the other materials we read in class. I now can understand why you told us in the beginning of the semester we were going to read this book last because its rather depressing. This lyric essay book talked about death, war, health issues and media a lot. I think the beginning of the book is rather sad because first it talks about suicide, calls the number 1-800-suicide and the girl says she feels already dead and is in death' s position. Then the person gets in the ambulance for help on page 7. Then as you read on it talks about this friend will die in five years because she has breast cancer, then finds out from her doctor after her tests that the cancer is in this friends bones and its settled. The way the author describes this( on page 9) is depressing and in good detail to feel bad for this person.
As i read on it get worse and worse with all the health issues and what people have to go through with there illness. On page 17 she talks about a friend developing Alzheimer's disease. He knows he is getting ill and will die soon, he writes on a slate board : this is the most miserable in my life. This really hit me hard because it reminded me of my grandma going through an illness that she didn't deserve and how it was miserable to see her suffer.
Also this book talked about certain types of pills. For example on page 53 she talks about switching medications for depression. And then talks about swallowing a whole bottle of Tylenol and she went into a coma and ended up waking up in the hospital asking if she was alive. the nurse said yes and smiled but then the girl asked why she was smiling like she didn't care about her life and didn't want to live anymore. This book was just depressing to read.
